Abstract
CRIMINAL JUSTICE ISSUES ARE PRESENTED WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE ROLES. AN EFFORT HAS BEEN MADE TO PROVIDE WITHIN EACH ROLE AT LEAST ONE ARTICLE FROM A FIRST-PERSON PERSPECTIVE AND ONE THAT IS ANALYTIC. THESE ROLES CONSIST OF POLICE OFFICER, VICTIM, OFFENDER, BAIL BONDSMAN, JUDGE, LAWYERS, WITNESS, JURY, INMATE, CORRECTIONAL OFFICER, MEDIATORS, EX-PRISONER, COMMUNITY WORKER, AND CITIZEN. CONFLICTS AND CONTROVERSIES WITHIN CRIMINAL JUSTICE ARE REVIEWED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO POLICE DISCRETION, MINORITY CRIME, WHITE-COLLAR CRIME, PRETRIAL RELEASE PROGRAMS, JUDICIAL STYLES, UNRELIABILITY OF WITNESS TESTIMONY, PLEA BARGAINING, DEPRIVATIONS OF PRISON, INMATE-GUARD RECIPROCITY, INMATE GRIEVANCE MECHANISMS, COMMUNITY SUPERVISION, AND JUVENILE DIVERSION.
