Tabular data illustrate the number of claims filed with and approved by the Manitoba Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (Canada), as well as the case disposition and benefits awarded. Reasons for nonacceptance of a claim are mentioned.
Abstract
During the year, 282 claims were processed, of which 213 were new claims and the balance were carried over. Most claims were for common assault (causing bodily harm). Total benefits paid were $606,000. The most frequent cause of nonacceptance was lack of evidence that a crime was committed according to statute.
