The Senate Subcommittee on Courts and Administrative Practice held hearings in Cleveland, Ohio; Tucson, Arizona; and Washington, DC, on the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Partnership Act of 1987.
Abstract
The bill would strengthen criminal justice cooperation between the States and the Federal Government by reauthorizing the Bureau of Justice Assistance for another 4 years; would also reauthorize the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act, the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act, the Victims of Crime Compensation Program, and the Drug Enforcement Grant Program; and would increase and extent the Public Safety Officers' Death Benefits Program. Witnesses in the three cities where hearings were held included local politicians and government officials, representatives of law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies, and employees of various social service agencies involved in working with children and their families.
