In 1981, there were 253,437 Index offenses reported in Virginia, and 23.6 percent of these were cleared. A total of 324,435 arrests were made, 11.4 percent of which involved persons under age 18.
Abstract
The report explains the Virginia Uniform Crime Reporting program; presents crime Index offenses in maps, graphs, and tables; and lists crime Index offenses by contributor. Data also pertain to contributing agencies and summarize Index offenses. The value of property stolen and recovered, arrest data, law enforcement officers killed and assaulted, and Index offenses by Virginia planning districts are included.
