This report describes the creation of the Nebraska Crime Victim's Reparations Board, chronicles the board's merger with the Nebraska Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, and presents claim information for fiscal years 1982-83 and 1983-84.
Abstract
Names, ages, and employment information are supplied for each victim, as are data on the city or county where the crime occurred, the type of crime, the compensation amount requested, the board's action on the request, and the dates the request was received and approved or denied. Awards totalled $52,337.22 in 1982-83 and $116,576.12 in 1983-84. In 1982-83, 62 claims for compensation were received, and 52 were brought before the board; compensation was awarded to 27 claimants and denied to 25. In 1983-84, 84 regular claims for compensation and 5 emergency claims were brought before the board; 49 of the regular claims and 1 of the emergency claims were awarded.
