Based primarily on police statistics on crime victims, this chapter provides data on the number of crime victims in 2006 as well as their ages and gender.
Abstract
The minimum number of crime victims recorded by the Czech Police in 2006 was 49,940 individuals, 1,805 fewer crime victims than in 2005. There was a 1.1-percent decrease in the percentage of victims who were injured as a result of crime; however, there was a 0.1-percent increase in the number of victims who died as a consequence of crime. In 2006, crime victims 18 years old and younger composed at least 11 percent of the minimum number of all crime victims registered by police (at least 5,473 individuals). Crime victims over the age of 60 composed at least 12.4 percent of the minimum number of all crime victims recorded by the police (a total of at least 6,195 individuals). Crime victims over the age of 60 consisted of 45.1 percent men and at least 52.7 percent women. 2 tables and 2 figures
