The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program represents a nationwide statistical effort of over 16,000 city, county, and State law enforcement agencies which voluntarily report data on crimes brought to their attention; the UCR Program has been administered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation since 1930.
Abstract
Detailed statistical data for 1994 are tabulated according to index crimes reported and cleared (violent and property offenses). Violent crimes include murder, non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. Property crimes include burglary, larceny, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. Data indicate that index crimes decreased from 14,144,794 in 1993 to 13,991,675 in 1994. Additional data are compiled on arrests, child homicide victims, and law enforcement personnel. Regional trends in crime rates are reported, and the law enforcement response is considered. Tables and charts
