This document publishes statistics on criminal activity reported to the police of the German State of Nordrhein-Westfalen (NW) in 1990.
Abstract
The purpose of the statistics is to study the evolution of criminal behavior in NW over a one-year period and to aid police preventive efforts. However, the validity of this report is limited because not all crimes are reported to the police. Also legal changes may affect the statistics in some crime areas. The first section of charts and graphs gives a general overview over recent crime developments. The remaining sections cover a wide variety of suspects and offenses with special attention given to juvenile and alien suspects. Detailed violent crime statistics and recent developments in such crimes as homicide, rape, robbery, extortion, bodily injury, theft, automobile related offenses, fraud, drug-related offenses, and environmental offenses follow. Two appendixes present detailed information on offenders and suicides in NW.
