Abstract
THE MANUAL WAS PRODUCED AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE FORENSIC TECHNICIANS TRAINING COURSE CONDUCTED DURING 1972 AND 1973 BY THE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH DIVISION, NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE COURSE WAS AN EFFORT TO STANDARDIZE METHODS AND TECHNIQUES PERFORMED BY FIELD TECHNICIANS WHEN PROCESSING CRIME SCENES. DISCUSSIONS FOCUS ON THE GENERAL CRIME SCENE RESPONSE, HANDLING SPECIFIC CRIME SCENES AND EVIDENCE, SPECIAL FORENSIC PROCEDURES AND CRIMINALISTIC TECHNIQUES, AND PHOTOGRAPHY. TABLES AND ILLUSTRATIONS ARE PROVIDED. SAMPLE REPORTS AND GLOSSARIES ARE APPENDED.
