The Northumbria Police in England organized several crime prevention efforts during 1988, including the Northumbria Coalition Against Crime, Farmwatch, and other efforts.
Abstract
The coalition brings together local and national industrialists, government officials, and others with the common desire to reduce crime and improve the quality of life. Membership is open to businesses, local governments, and others who pay annual membership dues. Farmwatch began in May and focuses on crime prevention, property marking, and an early warning strategy for the rural community. Another effort was the production of the video and distribution of leaflets directed to elderly people. In addition, committees were formed to examine methods of spreading information about crime prevention to people who are visually handicapped. Further efforts focused on crime prevention at Newcastle University, post offices, and in businesses that handle cash. Photographs.
