Abstract
Citizens are urged to become involved in community crime prevention programs (such as Neighborhood Watch). A checklist presents home security measures to discourage crime, and other suggestions address auto, bicycle, and motorcycle security, credit card and other frauds, and personal safety when out walking or driving. Advice on making children 'street smart' covers block parent programs, role playing what a child should do if lost, tips for using public restrooms safely, and coping with a stranger's advances. Tips to ensure workplace security focus on protecting personal belongings and the employer's property from theft and responding to visitors.
