Abstract
An introduction lists the 21 areas that should be considered in security planning and the 12 steps involved in the security planning process. The roles and responsibilities of the people involved in security planning are also outlined. The importance of a detailed survey of the site is emphasized, as is the recognition that each site is unique and requires flexibility in planning. A format and step-by-step instructions are given for conducting a security survey. Guidelines are also given regarding the basic elements of procedural security, electronic security, and physical security, and for the specific components of access control and planning for high-risk areas. Advice and checklists are also provided for computer security, property security, robbery prevention, and protection through environmental design. 10 references.
