These two volumes explain the basic principles of crime prevention, its range and benefits, current programs and practices, and an overview of its evolution and current status.
Abstract
The discussions are based on the experiences of the 130 national, Federal, and State organizations that make up the Crime Prevention Coalition and provide examples from the experiences of these member organizations. The examples were chosen to represent diverse geography, problems, and solutions. The discussion emphasizes that crime prevention is cost-effective, the responsibility of all levels of government, an issue requiring the efforts of all organizations and individuals, and an effort that is linked with solutions to all social problems. In addition, it requires a central position in law enforcement, cooperation by all elements of the community, education, tailoring to local needs, and continual testing and improvement. Program descriptions and addresses.
