Data are presented on crime and arrests reported by law enforcement agencies through the Nebraska Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program.
Abstract
In 1989, 6,470 index offenses were reported or known to law enforcement agencies. The violent crimes of murder, manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and felony assault accounted for 6.9 percent of the total index offenses. The remaining 93.1 percent of the total offenses were property crimes of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. The most frequently reported crime was larceny-theft which accounted for 69.7 percent of the total crimes reported. On the basis of an estimated population figure of 1,611,000, the crime rate was 40.0 per 1,000 population; 37.2 per 1,000 population for property crimes, and 2.8 per 1,000 population for violent crimes.
