MATERIALS FOR THE NEWSPAPER COURSE CONSIST OF A SERIES OF 15 WEEKLY NEWSPAPER ARTICLES. THE STUDY GUIDE IS INTENDED TO INTEGRATE THEMES OF THE NEWSPAPER ARTICLES. AUDIO CASSETTES, RELATED DIRECTLY TO NEWSPAPER ARTICLES, ARE ALSO AVAILABLE AS A SUPPLEMENTARY LEARNING AID. FOR STUDENTS PURSUING THE NEWSPAPER COURSE LARGELY THROUGH INDEPENDENT STUDY, THE STUDY GUIDE SERVES IN SOME WAYS AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR CLASS DISCUSSION. EACH SECTION OF THE STUDY GUIDE BEGINS WITH A LIST OF NEWSPAPER ARTICLES AND APPROPRIATE SUPPLEMENTARY SELECTIONS. THIS IS FOLLOWED BY LEARNING OBJECTIVES, AN OVERVIEW OF MAJOR ISSUES AND CONCEPTS, FACTUAL REVIEW QUESTIONS, DISCUSSION QUESTIONS, AND A LIST OF SUGGESTED READINGS.
