Alaskan crime statistics are presented for 1979 in this annual report. The major data source used to measure crime trends and distribution was the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program.
Abstract
The report gives statistics concerning criminal homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assaults, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft. Also highlighted are Alaska's rates versus national rates in the areas of total crime rates, property stolen and recovered, Part II crimes, clearance rates, apprehension, drug and alcohol-related arrests, and law enforcement officers killed or assaulted. Tables present statistics about yearly return of offenses known to the police; property by type and value; property stolen by class; and arrests by age, sex, and race for individual law enforcement agencies in Alaska. Also provided are graphs and pie charts.
