Abstract
Individual chapters introduce the history and current status of the correctional case management process and explain the importance of communication skills, the nature of interactions between offenders and counselors, and professional paradoxes. Additional chapters present strategies for assessment, classification, and treatment planning; the theoretical foundations and nature of counseling intervention techniques; the emerging group and family approaches that are particularly relevant to corrections; and ways to reduce recidivism rates among certain types of offenders. Further sections focus on case management issues with ethnic minorities, ethical issues, and the future of correctional case management.
