The United Nations Economic and Social Council mandated the U.N. Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) to undertake action-oriented research, training, and technical cooperation in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.
Abstract
This report describes the collaborations between UNICRI and other U.N. agencies including, inter alia, the United Nations Children's Fund, the World Health Organization, the International Labor Organization, and the U.N. International Drug Control Program. Specific areas of cooperation are categorized around several priority themes including national and transnational crime, organized crime, economic crime, and the role of criminal law in protecting the environment. Other topics of interest include crime prevention in urban areas, juvenile and violent criminality, efficiency and improvement in managing and administering criminal justice and related systems, and national capacities in developing countries for the collection and analysis of crime-related data. 3 notes
