REPORT ON A PROJECT TO REDUCE DELINQUENCY AND THE SCHOOL DROP-OUT RATE IN A DELAWARE SCHOOL DISTRICT BY PROVIDING A WIDE RANGE OF SERVICES INCLUDING COUNSELING AND REFERRAL TO 1,225 DISTRICT STUDENTS.
Abstract
THE EVALUATION REPORT ASSESSED THE CENTER'S PROGRESS, ITS IMPACT UPON THOSE SERVED, AND ITS PERFORMANCE IN RELATIONSHIP TO INFORMATION COMPILED NATIONALLY ON YOUTH SERVICE BUREAUS. THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS REPORT REPRESENTS A SYNTHESIS OF DATA ABSTRACTED FROM PROJECT FILES, INTERVIEWS WITH PERSONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROJECT, AND A REVIEW OF PERTINENT LITERATURE. THE RESULTS OF THIS STUDY REVEALED THAT, COMPARED TO NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CENTERS, CONRAD WAS A BETTER THAN AVERAGE CENTER. HOWEVER, THERE WAS LITTLE CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE OF WHETHER THE ENTER MADE ANY IMPACT ON ITS CLIENTS OR WHETHER ITS SERVICES PREVENTED DELINQUENCY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)...KAP
