This curriculum was developed for teachers to introduce conflict resolution skills to young children. Conflict resolution work can make the classroom a more peaceful and productive environment and can provide students with essential life skills that contribute to a well-rounded education.
Abstract
The first section comprises a series of activities designed to stimulate student awareness and skill development. The curriculum specifically helps children to become aware of the role that conflict plays in their lives, introduces the concept of individual differences, emphasizes the importance of feelings, presents a simple format for talking to another person about conflict, demonstrates the power of listening in resolving conflicts, and provides a process for working with another person to resolve a conflict. The second section describes how the skills learned by the children can be applied in the day-to-day life of the classroom. 6 appendixes
