THIS REPORT DOCUMENTS THE MAJOR RESULTS OF TWO CONFERENCES ON CRITICAL TOPICS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT.
Abstract
THE FIRST CONFERENCE, COMPUTER APPLICATIONS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT, ADDRESSED THE FUNCTIONAL AREAS OF POLICE ADMINISTRATION, RESOURCE ALLOCATION/COMMAND AND CONTROL, INVESTIGATION, AND INTELLIGENCE THROUGH FORMAL PRESENTATIONS, DISCUSSION, AND WORKING GROUP SESSIONS. THE SECOND CONFERENCE, POLICE RESPONSE TIME, ADDRESSED THE AREAS OF COMMUNICATIONS, COMMAND AND CONTROL, RESOURCE ALLOCATION STRATEGIES, AND MOBILITY IN A SIMILAR MANNER. CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES WERE TO PROVIDE GUIDANCE TO THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE IN COMPUTER USAGE FOR DEVELOPING RESEARCH PROJECTS TO BENEFIT LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND TO INITIATE THE EXCHANGE OF PLANS, STANDARD PROGRAMS, AND INFORMATION AMONG POLICE AGENCIES USING COMPUTERS.
