This report presents texts of general presentations and summaries of workshops from a 1990 conference that focused on State and local policies and programs designed to address drug abuse issues through treatment, prevention, and law enforcement efforts.
Abstract
Individual sessions focused on inmate drug treatment, community involvement in local drug prevention and education, prevention approaches that effectively reinforce drug-free lifestyles, and the components of an effective statewide strategy. Other sessions described treatment programs for pregnant substance abusers and their infants, programs to alleviate the overcrowding of court dockets, the changing role of law enforcement in comprehensive anti-drug strategies, and models for coordinating the role of State drug advisers with those responsible for the planning and coordination of statewide substance abuse services.
