STUDY OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIFFERENT PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR USING 159 POLICE OFFICERS AND 135 STUDENTS AS SUBJECTS IN WEST GERMANY.
Abstract
PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTS MEASURED THE SUBJECT'S PERSONALITIES FOR AGGRESSIVENESS, ANXIETY, NEUROSIS, RIGIDITY, EXTRAVERSION, DOGMATISM, AND INTOLERANCE FOR AMBIGUITY AND AUTHORITY. THESE CHARACTERISTICS WERE CORRELATED WITH AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR AS MEASURED BY THE USE OF AN ELECTRIC SHOCK IN AN ASSIGNED TASK. MULTIFACTOR ANALYSIS ISOLATED COMBINATIONS OF CHARACTERISTICS THAT WERE PREDICTORS FOR AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR. --IN GERMAN
