The Institute for Advanced Studies in International Security, headquartered in Paris, is concerned with developing effective public safety policies and attempts to bring together researchers, administrators, and practitioners.
Abstract
The Institute believes sociologists, legal experts, political scientists, and criminologists have not adequately considered the police system as an object of research and that more interaction is necessary between police officers and researchers to clarify the police role. The Institute encourages conferences to compare the effectiveness of European police forces and to examine the way in which they react to certain challenges. These challenges include the rise in urban violence, the emergence of new forms of crime, and migratory movements provoked by political and social confrontation. 2 notes
