An overview of community policing explains the roles of the police agency, the community, elected officials, the business community, other agencies, and the media. Further chapters explain the police recruit and inservice training required to implement community policing, specialized training needs, the duties and activities of community policing officers, the use of community-based problemsolving, the role of the first-line supervisor, internal and external management functions, performance evaluation, and future trends and issues.
