This third annual report on New York State's Community Dispute Resolution Centers (CDRC) program provides information on each local program, workload statistics, user satisfaction, staffing, public education efforts, guidelines, and problems.
Abstract
Descriptions and progress reports are presented for dispute resolution centers in 43 counties. A summary of a 1984 client satisfaction survey notes that 73 percent of the complainants and 76 percent of the respondents were either satisfied or completely satisfied. Three-quarters said they would bring a similar problem to the dispute resolution center. The report reviews the program's staff, presentations made to various organizations, the National Conference on Problem Solving Through Mediation co-sponsored by CDRC, and recommendations from the New York State Bar Association. Also discussed are the status of legislation pertaining to CDRC's permanent status, guidelines regarding child abuse reporting, and evaluation goals. A summary of workload statistics for 1984-85 covers case disposition, referral source, type and nature of dispute, relationship between disputants, money awarded, time from intake to disposition, and disputants' demographic characteristics. Tables, public information materials, the conference agenda, and texts of relevant legislation.
