This article describes criteria for the establishment of community-based correctional Pilot Homes, designed to accommodate up to 48 first offender felons.
Abstract
The inmates would be divided into four semi-independent groups in order to facilitate comparative analysis of data derived from the experimental versus control groups. The research would focus on the recidivism rate among offenders following their discharge from the Pilot Home. All Pilot Home clients would be engaged in educational class work, job training, or full-time employment. They would also attend 90-minute Reality Therapy sessions four evenings per week. In Reality Therapy, clients would evaluate their behavior, outline a plan for responsible behavior, make a commitment to carry out that plan, and avoid justifying their failures through excuses. 2 figures, 5 notes, and 24 references
