THIS CODE FOR ENERGY CONSERVATION IN NEW BUILDING CONSTRUCTION INCORPORATES ONGOING ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS BY THE MODEL CODE AGENCIES AND THE VARIOUS STATE CONSERVATION ACTIVITIES.
Abstract
THE ADMINISTRATION AND ENFORCEMENT SECTION PRESENTS THE INTENT, SCOPE, AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE CODE AS WELL AS INFORMATION ON ALTERNATE MATERIALS, PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, INSPECTIONS, AND CODE VALIDITY. DEFINITIONS OF TERMS ARE COVERED AND DESIGN AND CRITERIA AND MECHANICAL VENTILATION AND THERMAL DESIGN PARAMETERS LISTED. ALSO COVERED ARE DESIGN BY SYSTEMS ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF BUILDINGS UTILIZING NONDEPLETABLE ENERGY SOURCES. THE COMPONENT PERFORMANCE APPROACH TO BUILDING DESIGN IS DELINEATED, THE DISCUSSION INCLUDING BUILDING ENVELOPE REQUIREMENTS, BUILDING MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, SERVICE WATER HEATING, AND ELECTRICAL POWER AND LIGHTING. THE FINAL SECTIONS COVERS BUILDING DESIGN BY ACCEPTABLE PRACTICE (WITH DATA ON BUILDING ENVELOPE REQUIREMENTS, BUILDING MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, SERVICE WATER HEATING, AND ELECTRICAL POWER AND LIGHTING) AND STANDARDS THAT HAVE BECOME PART OF THE CODE.
