These two training volumes on confronting the crisis of child sexual assault in out-of-home child care settings (CSA/OHCCS) present model reporting-and-investigation guidelines for CSA/OHCCS and guidelines for multidisciplinary team investigations of such incidents.
Abstract
In presenting model guidelines for reporting and investigating CSA/OHCCS, Volume I details appropriate reporting and investigation responses to both child victims and perpetrators. Topics covered include investigation planning and preparation, the investigation format, the management of victim's parents, and stress management for investigators. Appendixes contain a sample interagency agreement, a sample hospital protocol, guidelines for developmental interviewing of the child victim, parent interviews, and a checklist for evidence of child sexual exploitation. Volume II details specific procedures for initiating a coordinated, multidisciplinary investigation, using the model guidelines. The material is presented in training modules that address model reporting and investigation guidelines, multidisciplinary team development, investigation procedures, interviewing strategies, the law and its application, community resources and referral, stress management, medical issues, licensing procedures, and news media relations.
