This workbook provides guidelines for adolescents to develop projects oriented to making their communities safer by preventing crime, reducing fear of crime, and helping victims.
Abstract
The workbook presents some basic facts about crime and discusses how adolescents are affected by crime. It outlines steps for planning a crime prevention project: assessing the needs of the community; planning the operation; specifying the aim of the activity, setting goals, selecting strategies, identifying tasks and priorities, and determining resources; lining up resources; implementing the plan; and nourishing, monitoring, and evaluating the project. Volunteers are considered the most significant resource. The workbook identifies and describes national resources for crime prevention and community service projects.
