This Dutch report highlights the activities of National Criminal Intelligence Service (referred to as CRI, the Dutch abbreviation of Centrale Recherche Informatiedienst), a field service of the Dutch Ministry of Justice; CRI is the national coordination and service center for police and judicial authorities in the fight against crime in the Netherlands.
Abstract
The duties of the CRI are to collect, process, analyze, record, and provide information and to conduct studies of investigations with a view to making them as effective as possible; to coordinate certain investigations; to maintain international police contacts; and to assist police forces all over the country. CRI also gives police and judicial authorities instructional information on combating crime and acts as the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) National Central Bureau. CRI employs approximately 230 people, with about 45 of these detectives. CRI consists of three departments: general administration, police information, and criminal investigation. The report discusses structure, the responsibilities, and activities of each of these departments. A separate section examines the INTERPOL National Central Bureau. Photographs supplement the text.
