Fifteen chapters describe careers in law and the education required to become a lawyer.
Abstract
The narrative focuses on the public prosecutor and public defender, legal aid and legal services, and the private practitioner. Examples of cases handled by attorneys in these positions illustrate the skills needed for these jobs. Other chapters explain the advantages of associating oneself with other lawyers versus being in solo practice, the challenge of court administration, and the Federal Government's legal staffs. Also discussed are protecting the consumer, legislative drafting, the paralegal explosion, legal counsel for the elderly, and international law. Also highlighted are the importance of the law librarian, the responsiblities of being a judge, and the importance of law reform. A glossary, an index, and four references are supplied.
