Abstract
SECTION ONE LAYS OUT THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS AND STANDARDS FOR MOST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. INFORMATION ABOUT THE TESTING AND SELECTION PROCESS FOUND IN ALL AGENCIES IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER IS PRESENTED IN SECTION TWO. SECTIONS THREE AND FOUR DEAL WITH THE TYPES OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN THE LAW ENFORCEMENT FIELD. SECTION THREE PROVIDES A GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONS FROM FEDERAL TO LOCAL LEVELS. SECTION FOUR DEALS WITH THE FEDERAL POSITIONS THIS REPORT IS PRIMARILY CONCERNED WITH. SECTION FIVE WAS BASED ON SUGGESTIONS FOR AND CRITICISM ABOUT THE LAW ENFORCEMENT CURRICULUM. THE INFORMATION IN THIS SECTION IS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE TO FEDERAL POSITIONS, AND MANY OF THE SUGGESTIONS BEAR CONSIDERATION BASED ON REQUIREMENTS OF THE FEDERAL POSITIONS. INFORMATION CONCERNING GRADUATE WORK IN LAW ENFORCEMENT IS PRESENTED IN SECTION SIX, FOLLOWED BY A CONCLUSION IN WHICH THE FINDINGS OF THIS REPORT ARE SUMMARIZED.
