GUIDELINES ARE PROVIDED ON THE PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF CAREER CRIMINAL PROGRAMS, INCLUDING INFORMATION ON FUNDING, POLICY FORMULATION, PROSECUTOR ACTIVITIES, AND DATA COLLECTION.
Abstract
THE CAREER CRIMINAL FOCUSES ON THE PRIORITY PROSECUTION OFFENDERS. REPEAT OFFENDERS PROSECUTORIAL RESOURCES ARE PRIORITIZED TOWARD THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO HABITUALLY COMMIT SUCH SERIOUS CRIMES AS ROBBERY RAPE, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, AND BURGLARY. THIS MANUAL INCLUDES SPECIFIC RECOMMENDATIONS ON SOURCES OF FUNDING, POLICY ANALYSIS, AND THE IMPLEMENTATION AND OPERATION OF CAREER CRIMINAL PROGRAMS. EXAMPLES OF POLICE AND PROSECUTOR ACTIVITIES IN SELECTED LOCATIONS CURRENTLY OPERATING CAREER CRIMINAL PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED, AND THE ROLE OF THE NATIONAL LEGAL DATA CENTER IS DESCRIBED. A SUGGESTED WORK PLAN, A CHECKLIST FOR PLAN IMPLEMENTATION, AND AN ADMINISTRATIVE CHECKLIST ARE ALSO INCLUDED.
