This kit presents a proposal for a television series on violence in the workplace, a paper on employee-to-employee workplace violence prevention, and an audio tape on how to harness anger for productivity.
Abstract
The television proposal is a three-segment series, each 24.40 minutes long. The series will portray the most critical, frequent, lethal, and costly incidents of workplace violence documented in the research. The re- enactment of the three workplace violence incidents will portray opposing teams composed of victims and family/coworkers versus perpetrators. The crisis management team will be depicted as referees. This proposal describes each of the three scenarios of workplace violence. Overall, the series will use real-life stories to demonstrate what works to prevent loss of life at work. The paper on workplace violence documents its seriousness and then provides a checklist that will indicate to employers whether or not they have taken specific critical steps to prevent violence in their workplaces. The paper recommends a total- quality-management approach to prevent workplace violence. Supplementary materials discuss the seriousness of the issue and some measures being taken to counter it.
