THIS EVALUATION OF 13 PROGRAMS SPREAD OUT OVER THE STATE CONCENTRATED ON THE CHARACTERISTICS, PERFORMANCES, AND SELF-EVALUATIONS OF CLIENTS, VOLUNTEERS, STAFF, AND VOLUNTEER COORDINATORS.
Abstract
THE EVALUATION ADDRESSES ITSELF TO DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VARIOUS GROUPS UNDER STUDY, IMPLEMENTATION OF THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS IN THE VARIOUS AGENCIES, AND VOLUNTEER IMPACT ON CLIENTS. THE STUDY FOUND THAT STAFF MEMBERS WERE IMPORTANT PARTICIPANTS IN THE VOLUNTEER EFFORT. ALSO IDENTIFIED AS CRUCIAL TO THE SUCCESS OF VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS WAS STRONG SUPPORT FOR THE PROGRAM FROM ALL PARTIES, ESPECIALLY TOP ADMINISTRATORS. ANOTHER IMPORTANT FACTOR IS THE PRESENCE OF A FULL-TIME PAID VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR. A RATIO OF ONE COORDINATOR TO EVERY 100 VOLUNTEERS WAS DEEMED IDEAL. THE APPENDIXES CONTAIN EVALUATION QUESTIONNAIRES AND DESCRIPTIONS OF THE PROGRAMS THAT WERE EVALUATED. THESE DESCRIPTIONS CONTAIN A PROGRAM OVERVIEW, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES, PROGRAM ACTIVITIES, SERVICES PROVIDED, AND PROGRAM IMPACT.
