Abstract
The State's prison population has increased steadily over the past decade due to court decisions, voter initiatives, and legislation advocating stronger law enforcement and stricter criminal sanctions. The figures and tables included here show Fall 1995 projections for California's institutional population, and parole and outpatient populations, as well as actual population figures. The more detailed tables depict quarterly institutional populations, projections by inmate placement needs, the movement of institutional populations, and projections of the parole and outpatient populations. 7 figures and 21 tables
