AN OUTLINE IS PROVIDED FOR THE PROPOSED CONGRESSIONAL REVISION OF TITLE 18 OF THE UNITED STATES CODE, WHICH DEALS WITH CRIME (I.E., WHAT IS AND IS NOT AGAINST THE LAW), CRIMINAL PROCEDURE, AND CORRECTIONS.
Abstract
THIS VOLUME SETS FORTH THE SUGGESTED TEXTUAL ADDITIONS, DELETIONS, AND OTHER CHANGES TO THE CODE AS CITED IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPROVEMENT ACT OF 1978. PROPOSED REVISIONS OF CRIME, SENTENCING, AND CORRECTIONS STATUTES ARE NOTED, ALONG WITH CHANGES IN MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS RELATING TO CRIMINAL PROCEDURE. A FULL RANGE OF CRIME, FROM ASSAULT AND EMBEZZLEMENT TO KIDNAPPING, POSTAL OFFENSES, AND TREASON, ARE CONSIDERED, IN ADDITION TO CRIMINAL PROCEDURE STATUTES REGARDING CONTEMPT OF COURT, EXTRADITION, SEARCH AND SEIZURE, AND SPEEDY TRIALS. THE SENTENCING PROVISIONS RELATE TO PROBATION, FINES, INCARCERATION, AND JUVENILE, YOUTHFUL, AND NARCOTIC OFFENDERS, WHILE THE CORRECTIONS MATERIAL COVERS THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF PRISONS, INMATES COMMITMENT AND TRANSFER, DISCHARGE AND RELEASE PAYMENTS, PAROLE, EMPLOYMENT, AND GOOD-TIME ALLOWANCES.
