The paper describes an intervention approach which is applicable to juvenile stealing regardless of the seriousness of the stealing, provided only that the client wants to stop stealing and the home environment has at least one adult who will help the juvenile.
Abstract
The technique is called individualized combined treatment (ICT) because it attends to both the internal and external environment of each individual client. The child lives at home and attends school as usual. The internal and external environment are both altered, and careful attention is paid to appropriate alternative reinforcers that take the place of reinforcers lost when stealing stops. A 2-5 year followup of 10 cases is briefly reported. About 40 references are included. (Author abstract modified)
