RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CHARACTERISTICS OF INMATES AND BEHAVIOR DURING THE FIRST YEAR AT A CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT 0F CORRECTIONS INSTITUTION.
Abstract
AFTER SUBJECTS WERE TRANSFERRED FROM A RECEPTION-GUIDANCE CENTER, DATA WERE COLLECTED ON INSTITUTIONAL EXPERIENCES PERTAINING TO CUSTODY CLASSIFICATION, WORK PERFORMANCE, VOCATIONAL AND ACADEMIC TRAINING, PARTICIPATION IN ORGANIZED GROUPS, DISCIPLINARY REPORTS, INSTITUTIONAL VIOLENCE, AND OVERALL ADJUSTMENT. THESE MEASURES OF BEHAVIOR IN PRISON ARE RELATED TO PRE-PRISON DATA COLLECTED IN RESEARCH REPORT NUMBER 23 TYPOLOGY OF VIOLENT OFFENDERS, CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS, SEPTEMBER, 1966.
