THIS STUDY EXAMINES THE CAUSES OF THE SUBJECTS' CRIMES AND IT DETERMINES THE RISK OF RECURRENCE, THE FREQUENCY OF SOCIAL ADJUSTMENT, AND THE SUBJECTS' BODILY AND MENTAL DEVELOPMENT AFTER THEY LEAVE PRISON.
Abstract
THE SUBJECT GROUP WAS A YEAR'S QUOTA OF SWEDISH MALE INMATES OF YOUTH PRISONS, FOLLOWED UP FOR 10 YEARS AFTER THEY LEFT THE PRISON. MORE THAN FIFTY VARIABLES ARE TESTED. INFORMATION WAS OBTAINED FOR SUBJECT AND CONTROL GROUPS FROM OFFICIAL REGISTERS, RECORDS, DOCUMENTS, AND PERSONAL INTERVIEWS. THE PARENTS AND SIBLINGS OF THE GROUPS WERE ALSO EXAMINED FOR CRIMINALITY AND MENTAL HEALTH.
