The final application plan submitted to the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) calls for the provision of 911 system service to the Jacksonville Telephone exchange prefix numbers 243 and 245.
Abstract
The 911 service area totals 255 square miles, encompassing the city of Jacksonville, Ill., and the village of South Jacksonville. The Jacksonville exchange includes about 25 percent of the land area of Morgan County and is served by the General Telephone Company. Implementation of the service will be the responsibility of the Jacksonville Police Department. The communications center supervisor and three dispatchers have completed the ICC-required 911 training course. A new UHF radio system, an auxiliary power system for the communications center, a 20 channel tape recorder, and individual tape recorders for the 911 telephone lines will be delivered before October 1, 1978. When the 911 system is implemented, the Police Department will receive calls for the Jacksonville Fire Department and transfer them to the Fire Department Dispatch Center. The Police Department, which provides all communications needs for the South Jacksonville Police and Fire Departments, will also accept calls for adjoining agencies and has agreements of cooperation with those agencies. Nine exhibits are included in the final plan. Exchange and jurisdictional maps of Morgan and Scott counties are listed but not included in the document. Other exhibits include lists of participating and adjoining agencies, copies of agreements with participating and adjoining agencies, a cost estimate, and sample forms.
