This document presents U.S. Supreme Court amendments to Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
Abstract
This report announces that the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure for the U.S. district courts will be amended as of December 1, 1991. Amendments include new chapter headings VIII and IX; amendments to Rules C and E of the Supplemental Rules for certain Admiralty and Maritime Claims; new Forms 1A and 1B to the Appendix of Forms; the abrogation of Form 18A; and amendments to Civil Rules 5, 15, 24, 34, 35, 41, 44, 45, 47, 48, 50, 52, 53, 63, 72, and 77. The latter rules pertain to the service and filing of pleadings and other papers, amended and supplemented pleadings, intervention, the production of documents and things and entry upon land for inspection and other purposes, and physical and mental examinations of persons. The amended rules also cover dismissal of actions, proof of official record, subpoena, juror selection, number of jurors, judgment as a matter of law in actions tried by jury, judgment on partial findings, masters, inability of a judge to proceed, magistrates and pretrial orders, and district courts and clerks.
