Abstract
The course is one in a series which leads to an associate degree in Police Administration at the University of Alaska. The course includes 24 lessons divided into three sections. The first section acquaints the student with the concept of organization and human behavior and considers organizational objectives and environment, and human and organizational interaction. The second section evaluates the functions of management from the perspectives of creativity, leadership, communication, planning and controlling, organizing, staffing, and directing and motivating. The final section examines police service through a consideration of police role and policymaking, patrol, investigation, the handling of juveniles, traffic control, records and communications, and police-community relations. Each section is presented in three parts: a reading assignment, comments, and written assignments. The required textbooks are listed in the introduction. An application for the final included.
