The use of the ACISS system by the St. Petersburg, Florida Police Department for records management of arrests and drug seizures by the Vice and Narcotics and Intelligence Unit is described.
Abstract
The system includes ACISS software and a multi-user Alpha Microsystems (AMS) computer with two printers and eight terminals. The conversion of five years of data on all the arrests and records of illegal drugs seized or purchased was included with the purchase. The core of the ACISS is the Data Base Management System (DBMS) which maintains information on all subjects, addresses, descriptions, vehicles, and telephones. It automatically track and link eliminates. The advantage is the need for only one inquiry to obtain all information about a particular subject. The telephone section of the DBMS manages the entry and storage of telephone numbers and subscribers. The Intelligence module produces and records all reports and information in three sections: one for Vice and Narcotics, one for the Intelligence, and one for cases shared by both units. The Dialed Number Recorder (DNR) module saves the most time by providing for direction connection of all the DNR. Additional modules include the Wiretap module, the Narcotics Evidence Tracking system, the Arrest module, and the Imaging program that displays a digitized photograph along with biographical data. The Inquiry program ties all the different modules together. It shows which cases mention particular subjects and provides the number of the individual supplement. In addition to information generated by the Vice and Narcotics units, it shows all the narcotics cases that patrol handles and the subjects entered by the intelligence.
