A DIRECTORY OF THE INDIVIDUAL AND INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMY OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SCIENCES AND A PROFILE OF THE ACADEMY'S MEMBERSHIP ARE PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE ACADEMY'S PURPOSE IS TO FOSTER STANDARDS IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND OPERATIONAL AGENCIES. ITS MEMBERS INCLUDE TEACHERS, RESEARCHERS, AND PRACTITIONERS AT ALL LEVELS AND IN ALL PHASES OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROCESS. THE DIRECTORY WAS PUBLISHED IN CONNECTION WITH THE ACADEMY'S 1979 ANNUAL MEETING. EACH MEMBER'S NAME, TITLE, AND AGENCY ADDRESS ARE LISTED, TOGETHER WITH THE NAMES AND LOCATIONS OF INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERS (MAINLY COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES). THE MEMBERSHIP PROFILE PROVIDES A BREAKDOWN OF THE ACADEMY'S MEMBERSHIP BY REGIONAL AFFILIATION, ACADEMIC BACKGROUND, LEVEL OF EMPLOYMENT, AND AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION. THE PROFILE SHOWS THAT NEARLY 75 PERCENT OF THE MEMBERS HOLD MASTER'S OR DOCTORATE DEGREES, THAT OVER HALF ARE EMPLOYED AT THE STATE LEVEL, AND THAT THE MOST COMMON SPECIALTY AREAS ARE EDUCATION/TRAINING AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE GENERALIST. FOUR TABLES ARE INCLUDED. (LKM)
