This document presents the Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 Annual Report to Congress for the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs.
Abstract
In FY 2009, the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs (OJP) awarded more than 8,200 grants totaling $5.6 billion to law enforcement agencies, communities, and organizations working to improve the safety and well-being of communities throughout the country. This FY 2009 Annual Report to Congress presents information on the work and achievements of the programs of OJP. The report is divided into five chapters: Accelerating Public Safety: Outreach; Advancing Partnerships: Collaboration; Promoting New Ideas: Innovation; Increasing Results: Evidence; and Moving With Purpose: Stewardship. Each chapter includes highlights and accomplishments funded by the FY 2009 appropriations and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, along with real world examples that demonstrate the positive impact of OJP programs on America's communities.
