Noting that houses of worship, along with other facilities, have specific security and safety issues, this National Institute of Justice (NIJ) interactive PDF toolkit guides local law enforcement agencies in working with institutions to evaluate security needs and develop security and safety plans.
Abstract
Access to this free toolkit is restricted to public safety officials. Staff from houses of worship that want to access the toolkit should contact local law enforcement to request a copy. Public safety officials should email the National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) at [email protected] from your official agency email account. In the email Subject Line, type Safeguarding Houses of Worship toolkit, and provide your name, title, agency, and mailing and email addresses in the message body. You will receive an email with the fillable PDF file. The Safeguarding Houses of Worship web page also contains an annotated listing of 21 resources that houses of worship can use in collaborating with community leaders and first responders.
