This article provides information on a project by the Weapons and Protective Systems Technology Center for Excellence (WPSTC) aimed at improving planning and training for tactical operations. This project was completed as a result of work by the Tactical Operations Technology Working Group to identify the need for an affordable and realistic training environment specifically focused on SWAT operations. The project included a review of SWAT-related documents by experienced tactical law enforcement personnel aimed at giving professionals a structured, organized, and well-defined description of how and what they do when they perform their operations. The project also included development of a framework that links mission, collective and individual task proficiency, training plans, and tactical readiness.
