Abstract
This brochure is designed as an agency self-assessment tool to help law enforcement leaders evaluate their agency's efforts to fully address the safety needs of their officers. Examined are analysis of data, forensic interviews, and post-incident investigations to offer suggested strategies for how violence against police officers can be prevented. This tool can be used to proactively examine the range of critical officer safety strategies and determine areas where action can be taken to improve individual agencies' specific needs. When taken together, the infrastructure improvements, systemic policies and strategies covered by this checklist will enhance officer safety and potentially prevent acts of violence against law enforcement. The resource identified for each topic helps address agency-specific issues; the checklist on the back page helps map the agency's progress.
